Brave Men
BRAVE MEN
(I galantuomini)

In BRAVE MEN, talented writer/director Edoardo Winspeare (The Miracle - IFF04) presents a sweeping saga about two former childhood friends who meet at another friend's funeral. One is now a judge and the other deeply embroiled in crime.

Boyhood chums Ignazio and Fabio grew up together with Lucia, a tough, tousled girl, in the 1970s in the slums of Lecce. Years later, Ignazio (Fabrizio Gifuni, The Sweet and the Bitter – IFF08), now a highly esteemed judge returns to the city from the north where he has worked for many years to investigate the sudden death of Fabio (Lamberto Probo, Sangue Vivo – IFF2000). There he meets up with Lucia (Donatella Finocchiaro, in a startling turn) who, despite outward appearances, now works for the feared Sacra Corona Unita, the Pugliese mafia.

Winspeare creates a tantalizing blend of melodrama and investigative cinema, firmly built on the rare figure of the female Mafioso - a sombre mix of crime and tragedy.
