GIULIA DOESN’T GO OUT AT NIGHT
(Giulia non esce la sera)
Director Giuseppe Piccioni (The Life I Want - IFF05, Light of My Eyes - IFF02,) returns to the Festival with an intriguing new story of love, drama and water, starring luminous global star Valeria Golino. Giulia (Golino) teaches swimming at a pool. One of her pupils is the young daughter of Guido (Valerio Mastandrea), a married and successful writer, whose latest book has been selected as one of the five finalists for a prestigious literary prize, but who grapples with feelings of futility about his profession. When they meet at the pool, the charming Guilia immediately intrigues Guido, who’s drawn by her grace and finesse in the water, but Guilia initially keeps her distance as she is harboring a dark secret. Golino brings great sensitivity to her role, and as an additional treat for Golino fans - the film’s closing song, by the group Baustelle, features vocals by Valeria and collected the Best Song Award at the 2009 Italian Oscars. |
